Hack for Equality

In 2024, the name for Lisbon’s new airport was chosen. And, unsurprisingly, it was a male name. Just like all the other airports in Portugal. And just like 91% of the streets in the country.

So, remembering how Google Maps allows users to create custom locations, we decided to hack it — or, in other words, encourage people to do it themselves. All they had to do was go to the new airport's location and add the name of a woman who could have easily been chosen.

All this to show the striking number of women who could be on this map… until Google decided to hack our action and delete them all.
